Pirates!

Last night was my cousin's 18th Birthday Party and so to celebrate she had a pirate themed birthday party and it was amazing! All my family and all her friend's made such a huge effort with their costumes and it was just so much fun. I LOVE FANCY DRESS :) There was even a friend of a friend's friend who came along who is in fact a real life Jack Sparrow impersonator who is usually hired and goes round clubs and thing's and he was in character the WHOLE night, was pretty freaky but soooo funny!

It was a great last night to have with all my family before I jet off to sunny America tomorrow aghhhksjdhfksjdfh;sdkfhsdfb!!! Cannot actually contain my excitement right now, my belly keeps doing little flips every time I think about it hehe still gotta pack my suitcase and get some good songs on my iPod ready for mine and Shana's road trip across the States whilst i'm there. This time tomorrow i'll be half way there :D

4 days till USA

I don't think i'm scared anymore, the excitement has fully kicked in. I went to get my dollars today and it felt so good holding the cash in my hand. American money is sooo like monopoly money it's really funny. Also got my travel insurance aswel. As much as it pained me to pay £60 for it, I know I need it. I mean I don't wanna have an accident wake up in hospital and find out my parents have had to sell the house to pay for my medical fee's! Eeeeek.
Still got lots of things to buy, few more clothes, toiletries ect. I will pack everything on Sunday have an early night and wake up about 5am get ready and head to the airport to catch my flight at 11.15am. I really hope I get to sit next to someone really friendly on the plane. I don't think I can deal with someone fat and smelly or just plain horrible. I know this probably wont be the case and i'm sure it will be fine whoever i'm sat next to. I just hope there prepared to look after me whilst I have a mini panic attack during take off. I'm not that bad really, once were up and away i'm absolutely fine. It's just taking off and landing that makes me ever so slightly anxious.
I'm so excited to arrive and see Shana's face at the arrivals lounge. I havn't seen her for so long and I know we are going to have the best time. I've just checked the weather for North Carolina and at the moment and the weather is scorching :) It's been nearly 4 years since I last had a proper holiday so this trip has been well overdue.

Prince William & Kate Middleton

So tomorrow is the big day for Prince William and Catherine Middleton and I bet she's lying in bed now with massive butterflies swirling around her tummy. Seriously though i'd be amazed if she got any sleep at all tonight. If it were me I don't think I could. I kinda feel sorry for her because this is going to be the biggest day of her life and the pressure of this wedding running as perfect as possible is going to be huge! An estimated 2 billion people are expected to tune in tomorrow....crazy. I used to have the biggest crush on Prince William when I was a youngster and had a few posters up on my walls, infact I think he was the first male to have ever been pinned to my wall. What a geek.

He is lovely though and i'm so pleased he's marrying the most beautiful woman. I've never really been that fussed about the Royals, however I have always had a lot of time for both Prince William & Harry but this of course is mainly down to the fact they had the most amazing mother in the world, Princess Diana. I got abit emotional earlier watching a documentary leading up to the wedding and they were showing a lot of clips of Diana playing with the boys when they were younger. It broke my heart to think she won't be there tomorrow, she would of been the proudest of them all no doubt. I'm really excited to get up and watch it all. I'm gonna take my duvet down stairs and watch it in my pj's before getting ready and heading to my hair appointment at 2pm! Seriously can't wait to see what Kate looks like, i'm sure whatever she's wearing she is going to look stunning! They really are the fairytale couple and I hope they have lots of lovely babies and then they'll live happily ever after.

It's been a while but you know, things kinda seem to take over and you loose track but now it is finally complete. Here's a few before and after shots, i'm really happy with how it's turned out and it's sooooo lush having a double bed at home yay!

Tonight

So last night I recieved some pretty devastating news from a friend of mine :( I was in a lot shock for most of the evening and I feel so incredibly sad because there is absolutely nothing I can do to stop what's happening. All I can do is be there for him whenever he needs me. It's such a massive blow when you are hit with something like this, I havn't really got my head around it now because you never expect something so horrible to happen to the people you love.

I'm looking forward to a nice evening in with my sister and my cousins Lauren & Lucy. Kat and Lauren are back from Uni so were all getting together and having a nice girly night in. We've been having a few troubles going on between us so it will be good just to let everything out over a few glasses of wine and chinese food. Since recieving the sad news last night it's really made me think about a lot of things. I'm so incredibly lucky to have such a loving family a great set of friends and most importantly good health. I think the last one is something I take for granted a great deal. We need to look after each other and look after ourselves too.

Stay safe.

Hello at 12.20am

So i've not posted for a couple of days, i'm sitting up in bed listening to my boyfriend sleep talking which is quite cute. It's quite late and i'm feeling a little reflective. The past few nights i've been having nightmares about my trip to America and it's mainly revolving around the airport. I've only ever flown 3 times in my life once to Greece, once to Gran Canaria and once to Majorca. Each of these times I have always been surrounded by my family, letting my dad lead the way through customs and basically showing us the way to go. I know it does seem silly but I am actually incredibly anxious about flying on my own. I'm a worrier, I always have been. I'm 22 and I know everything will be fine but you cant help but expect the worst sometimes.

The dreams I've had involved my mom driving me to Manchester Airport so I could catch my flight. On arrival I realised I had left both my passport and tickets at home. I literally only had about 30 mins before take off and needed my dad to drive all the way from Telford to Manchester in the space of that time haha and of course it didn't happen :(....luckily I woke up at that point fairly releaved but felt a bit disgruntled because of it.

If anything the dream has definitely made me more prepared for my trip. I'm usually a terrible last minute packer. For instance my family and I were booked to go on a Mediterranean Cruise and because we were leaving the house super early to catch our morning flight, I just decided to go out partying with my friends, not go to bed when I got in and packed before we left. On reflection that probably wasn't the greatest of idea's in terms of preparation but it sure was a lot of fun having a great night out coming home packing my suitcase and flying out the next morning! :)

I am so excited to just get out there and experience America and of course spend some quality time with my lovely friend Shana. I just need to push all the worries to the back of my head about flying alone. People do it every single day, it can't be that hard to mess up?

Wednesday 9 March 2011

2 months today...

I will be getting up at 5am, catching the US Airways 735 from Manchester at 11.15am and travelling all the way to the States. I will stop off in Philadelphia then straight through to North Carolina where I will be reunited with my American BFF Shana Alexandra. I seriously cannot wait! I'm not gonna lie, I am absolutely peeing my pants at the thought of flying alone, but at the same time I can hardly contain my excitement. It's gonna be such a massive experience and will hopefully be the beginning of many more trips to the USA :)

My trip will consist of:

2 days in Shana's home town North Carolina. Where she will show me around her block and I will get to see her University!

2 days at Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Where I will lye on the beach and get a tan :)

2 days in Georgia for a bit of historical sight seeing.

And finally to finish off my mini adventure- 4 days at Disney Land Florida, where we will stay with Shana's siser (who just so happens to work at Disney) at her apartment with free access to the theme park!

I'm already feeling sad at the thought of coming home and leaving Shana and i've not even left yet haha. Either way, I know i'm going to have the BEST TIME EVER!

Lily

So today at work was pretty darn lovely! My colleague Dan brought his new puppy in today. Her name is Lily and she's 4 weeks old :) He brought her in wrapped in a blanket and she was the sweetest little dog I've held for a long time! She was just totally chilled out and just plain adorable. We also got a little spoilt with some pancakes Dan the Chef brought down from the Restaurant for us which was a nice little treat.

Festivals.

Today is a day I look forward to and dread every year and have done so for the past 5 years. I've booked my festival tickets...only just thanks to a friend who managed to get through. The first time I ever booked for V Festival was in 2006. I was 17 and managed to get some tickets off Lastmin.com almost straight away and I tell you what, it wasn't half as stressful as it is now.
After my first experience of a weekend at V my sister and I instantly got the "Festival bug" and I can't actually imagine a summer without going to a Festival now. I had an absolutely amazing time with a great group of people who I have attended Festivals every year with since. I love the atmosphere, everyone is so care-free, it doesn't matter if you havn't washed your hair in two days there's only one thing everyone's interested in.... HAVING A BLOODY GOOD TIME!

It really frustrates the hell out of me how pretentious and arrogant some people can be when it come's to festivals. I LOVE music of all genre's and have always prided myself on how diverse my music taste is. What I can't get my head around is people who consistently bash V Festival because of it's 'commercial' appeal. I attended Reading Festival in 2009 and it's a great one to go to if you enjoy alternative, rock, indie music. I had an absolute blast and saw a lot of bands I've never had the opportunity to see and really enjoyed my weekend there. However one of the little thing's that niggled at me during my time there was the lack of warmth I got in comparison to the reaction I get when I attend V Festival.

When I say 'warmth' I mean the people. It just didn't have the same kind of easy going atmosphere I feel V Festival offers. Other's may disagree but that's just my opinion. This year's headliners for V are Eminem and Artic Monkey's. Artic's are great but I was expecting them to be somewhere in the line up. I think the shocker for everyone this year is Eminem. I for one am too excited about getting see him live. I admire him as artist and think he is a very talented writer, but this of course has provoked mixed reactions from everyone.

The fact is everyone has there own tastes and opinions when it comes to music. What I don't appreciate is people shouting there mouth off putting those down for attending certain festival's they don't rate themselves. At the end of the day if you have fun and leave that weekend feeling like you've had the time of your life then you can't fault it. V Festival caters for everyone, it's not pop-teeny bopper, it's diverse. It doesn't stick to one genre therefore it open's up opportunities for everyone to attend. I'm so excited about this year's line up, in-particular the female performances, from the like's of Ellie Goulding, Jessie J & Rihanna! I'm just excited about the whole weekend, the camping, the drinking, the laughing, the music but most importantly having an awsome time! and when that's all a mere 15 minutes drive away from your home....it'd be rude to say no really :)

Presentations & Surprises

Well once again I found myself having a really lovely weekend. Mart's been off work because of the School being on half term all week and I managed to wangle a Friday off work so off to Wolves we went for a little shopping trip to find something to wear for Martin's brother's football presentation on the Saturday. I got myself a really nice black with poker dot dress and some black heels whilst Mart got a nice shirt and tie we then headed over to Chiquito's for some yummy mexican food which finished the day off quite nicely.

Saturday came round and during the evening I went along with Martin and his family to his brother's football presentation. It was a really lovely night consisting of a 3 course meal, an Irish band and Mart's younger brother scooping the most improved player of the year trophy!

Finally to finish what was already an awesome night my best friend Ky surprised me by coming back to Telford for the weekend and coming on a night out to Planet with us. I was soooo excited to see him and we had such a laugh. So all in all a very enjoyable weekend :)

I really love

It's the most amazing stuff to put on your legs when you've just got out the shower. I used to work at The Body Shop when I was about 16, my aunty was the manager and it was the most chilled out job ever. I Used to love going around the shop sampling everything particularly the Body Butters :) I'm feeling good today, my mother and I spent pretty much all day chucking out loads of stuff I have collected over the years. It brought back a lot of good memories and it was really sad having to let go of a few things. I've kept a few important things but most of the stuff will be lying on top of rubbish tip tomorrow afternoon. I guess in a way it's time to say goodbye to my teenage years and embark on the new stage of my life....the twenties! Kinda scary thinking i'm gonna be 23 this year. Even hearing me say it out loud in my head freaks me out a little. Oh well still a while off yet and I've got plenty to look forward to between now and then.

The Weekend

Was a lot of fun :) VIP's in Babylon, guest list at Planet, drank sooo much and danced lots and didn't even have much of a hangover the next day. Sunday was lovely too, went back to Wolves in the evening to watch my besties concert at The Arena Theatre. Was a really fun and entertaining night.

Valentines, Jobs & Travels

Well first off I know it's late but Happy Valentines! Have to say I was a little shocked at the amount of hate flying around facebook about Valentines day this year. So many bitter people really trying to make a point about how much they didn't care about the day and that's fair enough but who are you trying to prove it to?.
Well to be honest I wasn't bothered much myself this year seen as Martin and I were sharing our third and I think were passed the whole going out for dinner and stuff thing, so we just had a quiet meal at home. Martin cooked us some really yummy steaks but it wasn't quite the romantic setting we were hoping for seen as my mom and dad were going crazy in the kitchen because my pops burnt a whole in the kitchen floor haha sooo yeah that was kinda awkward.

Martin then went on to point out the bear I had got him which was meant to say 'I love you' in fact said 'I love YO' FAIL. Luckily Mart found it hilarious and I just said if you pronounced it without the 'u' then it would sound like me saying it in a Wolverhampton accent :) so yeah Valentines was sorta a success...I think?

In other news I didn't get my job at the OMH...sad face.I think they wanted someone who could fully commit to the position and that just couldn't happen with me and the hours I put in at the Theatre. But it's not the end of the world and i'm just happy to have the job i've got at the moment.

On the other hand though I recieved an email at work yesterday from my lovely friend Shana who is taking me on a road trip when I go visit her in the States in May. Shana is from North Carolina and we got really close when I started University in 2007. I met her on my first night and we clicked instantly and have remained good friends since. I'm so excited about going to visit her and being able to explore a few parts of the USA (somewhere I have always wanted visit). So recieving an email with a list of all the plans she has lined up for me got me a little bit excited at work. So much so I squealed like a big idiot and scared my work colleague half to death haha...I don't care though it cheered me up. Here's a picture of Shana and I from last Halloween when she came to visit us on the way home from a summer in India.

I'm currently sleeping on my mattress on the floor at home at the moment so it feels like i'm having a sleepover every night :) I'm having my room decorated which is nearly done, i'm just waiting on my new bed and it will be complete. It's looking really good so far but I will get another blog up with pics as soon as it's all finished, which will hopefully be soon!

Saturday 12 February 2011

Just found my old school photo from year 11 in 2005. It's funny how things change. I hung around with these girls throughout my entire time at Secondary School and can safely say I probably speak to about two of them now and even that's once in a blue moon. I guess it's just hard trying to stay in contact with people when everyone if off living their own lives. I hope they are all well and happy. P.S you can so tell this is when GHD's had just come out. STRAIGHT HURRRRRRRRRRRRR CREW :)

The Piano

Just watched 'The Piano' for the first time. Woweee i'm in love. What a beautiful yet dark film. Loved the music too, I didn't realise I've actually got a few of the songs from the original soundtrack. I absolutely adore piano music and my favourite pianist of all time is Ludovico Einaudi. I was lucky enough to watch one of his concerts live at the Royal Albert Hall in 2008 and it was one of the most mesmorising thing's i'd ever witnessed. I was literally captivated from start to finish and he performed my favourite Eden Roc. Eden Roc is very much more experimental compared to his classical compositions and I love that he is willing to experiment some modern electronica and combine it with his more classical styles.

Clearance

Started my bedroom today! Exciting stuff. Bit of a drag having to remove EVERYTHING out of my room though. I didn't realise how much stuff I have that I actually don't need. Under my bed are just boxes full of old work books from Secondary School, tons of scarfs from my old obsession with the damn things. Loads of paperwork from when I was looking at Uni's. Boxes full of crappy jewelery and pointless things like remotes from old tv and dvd players. I also have so many clothes in my wardrobe that I just simply don't wear. I've cleared my wardrobe out before and kept bit's and piece's thinking "oh, I know, I'll keep this because I might wear it again soon" and never do. I think I just need to man up grab some bin bags and just throw everything away. Need to make room for things I do need instead of having things lying around collecting dust.

Me and Dad started painting my walls silver and it was really fun and relaxing. It does need a second coat but were gonna do that tomorrow and then start on the wallpaper for my feature wall. I'm currently searching for a new bed frame for my double bed and like the look of this one. Hopefully I might be able to find something similar soon.

Wednesday 9 February 2011

Lucy, Jade & Laura

I went to Reading last weekend to visit my old housemate's and it was amazing how easy it was coming back together again. I've not seen them since September which is a crazy long time seen as we were all so used to being inseperable. It was actually quite emotinal to say the least. My life has changed quite drastically over the months and it's safe to say I don't have a lot of female friend's left around here apart from my best friend's Ruth and Liv who are both living away in Manchester & Birmingham. It's been tough not having my girl's around and it was wonderful to be reunited with them over the weekend. Although I do believe now in the old saying 'The friends you make at University are the friend's that stay with you forever'.

Bedroom Makeover

Today my mom and I went shopping for new wallpaper and paint ready to start decorating my bedroom on Friday. So far i'm really happy with what I've chosen. The look i'm going for has a vintage feel but still remains quite girly and the colour's i've chosen are pink, black and silver. It's a bit different but i'm just so ready for a new look. My bedroom is painfully dull at the moment due to 3 years of neglect whilst I was at Uni but now i'm back it just needs lifting. I've got some black floor length curtains and matching black vintage cushions to go on my double bed (as soon as I inherit my parents double bed)that is :). I'm also planning on buying a black chandelier for the lighting and having grey carpet layed on the floor. I'm hoping it's all gonna come together well and i'm sure it probably will, either way I will just be grateful of the change and having a space which is a bit more me.

The wallpaper I have brought is Super Fresco Flock Effect Elizabeth Pink/Silver Effect.

Someone like you

This song actually makes my heart hurt. Adele I have missed your voice <3

Floods

This is a picture I took standing on the bridge just outside my work yesterday. It's the car park most of our theatre goer's use and as you can imagine I was a little bit shocked when I strolled up to work to find this over flown river had appeared. What amazes me if the fact we didn't really have much rainfall during the build up to this but just imagine what could of happened if we had even more! It's crazy what the weather can do and yet we have absolutely no control over it. Kinda scary really.

Im Back!

So my laptop's been dead for a whole 5 months I have been blogless but now thanks to my super techno geek of a boyfriend he has finally fixed it. I am now free to use both hands to type instead of using my thumbs on my iPod touch which I have been using as a replacement internet for soooo long. It's good to be able to upload my camera pics and just seeing everything on the big screen again :)

It's safe to say not a great deal has changed between the past few months haha but I am happy. Work is great still loving the town, the people my job is good and it's great getting to see free shows ;) I've recently applied for a second job to boost up my hours but also to get abit more experience in another element of our company. Theatre Severn is joint with an independent cinema in town called The Old Market Hall. It's an adorable 60 seater cinema situated right in the middle of Shrewsbury town. It's one of these kind of places you can escape from the noisy Chav's and over priced tickets you get at the likes of Cineworld and Odeon. They have double seats for couples and you are welcome to take a glass of wine or beer in whilst watching your film. It really is just a lovely little place to work so i'm hoping to get some hours over there too.

I will blog more now i've got this little baby up and running but that'll do for now. Here's a few pics of the OMH and fingers crossed ill get the second placement :).
